Woodstove Music & Arts Festival is a non-profit community event presented by the Cumberland Culture & Arts Society. Held across a range of unique venues in the Village of Cumberland, BC, it takes place on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation.

Since 2016, Woodstove has been an annual celebration of community and the creative power of the winter season. Each year, music makers and music lovers from the local community and across Canada gather at the foothills of the Beaufort Mountains for three days of performances, stories, poetry, theatre, stand-up comedy, workshops, dance, kids’ activities, and connection.

Welcome to an intimate gathering of poets, prophets, and storytellers, where we settle into a circle and share our craft. Drop in to share, to be inspired, or to be entertained.

“Wordsmiths” is the evolution of “Café Blah Blah,” a long-standing writers’ group initiated by a Cumberland creative. It’s a safe, cozy, inclusive space for all ages to share words and ideas. Come one, come all, come however you are!

We meet in the Worthy Room (generously donated for our sessions) on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 6:30–8:30 PM. Arrive when you can, leave when you need. We’ll have the kettle on!

Join us for relaxed, non-instructional life drawing sessions - a great chance to sharpen your skills, experiment, or simply enjoy drawing from a live model in a welcoming group setting.

We meet every second Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at The Abbey Studio (2689 Penrith Ave, Cumberland). Bring along your own paper and drawing tools. Tables and chairs are provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own easel if you wish.

Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Pleasure Craft Theatre is an improvisational group that has been producing live improvised soap operas in Cumberland for over 16 years. Each year, over six weeks beginning in January, the cast and crew work with a new theme and create a hilarious dramatic musical show on the fly for live audiences.

Themes have included Medieval, Science Fiction, Western, Superheroes, Ancient Rome, Hardboiled Detective, Summer Camp, and many more. After performing at a variety of venues, Pleasure Craft Theatre now calls Cumberland’s Weird Church home. Over the last two seasons, the soap opera has raised over $2,000 in donations for the support and improvement of the Weird Church as an arts venue.

The CCAS Family Arts Camp is a joyful, creative weekend retreat for families, held each year on Mother’s Day weekend at Camp Gilwell. The weekend features a rotation of hands-on workshops such as improv, mask making, ukulele, archery, forest stories, and more, along with ongoing creative stations including button making, friendship bracelets, collage, and games.

Nutritious meals are provided, with camping and bunk house accommodations available. Families can enjoy river swimming, evening campfires, and singalongs. Family Arts Camp is a heart-centred way for the community to gather, create, and celebrate together.
